Product Description by our Music Experts
A Dozen A Day Piano Book One is a great technical exercise book with dozens of short, fun studies, for grade 1 pianists to warm up with before doing your piano practice.
Good warm up for beginners
Warming up is a vital part of any piano practice, just like sports practice! A Dozen A Day Piano Book Ones is full of easy (grade 1) 8 bar warm up pieces to do before practising, all named after actions like ‘Wiggling Toes’, ‘Ping Pong’, and ‘Riding Piggy Back’, with fun stick men illustrations, that will develop flexible hands and strong fingers! The music is marked with fingerings, articulation and some performance directions, and some songs have words for you to sing along!
Bite sized chunks
A Dozen A Day Piano Book One is split into 5 chapters of a dozen exercises labelled 1-12, which cover new technical aspects, such as accents, playing staccato, accidentals, grace notes, chords, arpeggios, and simple triplet arpeggio patterns. You can gradually work through each dozen, mastering 2 or 3 exercises before adding more, until you can play the whole dozen as a practising warm-up.
Progressive technique development
The techniques in A Dozen A Day Piano Book One progress from the previous book in the series. Book One starts with easy two finger pieces with both thumbs on middle C or 2 hands an octave apart, and ends with chords and melodies using both hands, in alternative hand positions. The chapters get progressively harder, so you will improve technically as you work your way through the book - each chapter ends with a final piece called ‘Fit as a fiddle and ready to go’, concluding that chapter so you can start practising! You are encouraged to transpose the studies into different keys when you have finished the book, so you can continue doing a dozen a day before practising!
