Woodwind repairs
Here at DS Music we understand the importance of keeping your flute, clarinet, saxophone etc. in perfect working order. Whether you need a specific repair or a general service we have a woodwind engineer with twenty years’ experience on hand at our Monmouth store to offer you expert diagnosis, servicing and repairs. Our woodwind engineer repairs: Flutes (Standard, Alto, Bass) & Piccolos, Clarinets (Bb, Eb, A, Bass), Saxophones (Alto, Soprano, Tenor, Bass), Recorders (Soprano/Descant, Alto/Treble, Tenor, Bass), Oboes & Cor Anglais
What services do you offer?
Our engineer offers repairs to almost all woodwind instruments – some examples include:
- Re-padding
- Curing leaks (ie fixing leaky keys)
- Realignment of key-work
- Re-corking joints
- Instrument service
- Restoration
- Complete instrument overhaul
How long does it take?
Once you have dropped off your instrument, our engineer will then diagnose and quote usually within one to two working days. Once you have agreed to proceed with the quotation our engineer usually takes one to two working days to carry the work. If specialist parts are needed then the repair can take slightly longer but our engineer will advise accordingly. So from quotation to a finished repair it is usually 2-4 working days, depending on the time of year and demand.
How much do you charge?
We charge a £16 diagnosis fee, which if you then proceed with the engineers quotation the diagnosis fee is waived and thus just the quotation price is payable. If you decide not to proceed with the quotation just the £16 diagnosis fee is payable. Rather than charging a fixed price for repairs and servicing, our engineer will offer you an individual quote based on the work that needs doing to your instrument. More often than not this will work out much cheaper than a flat fee!
