We have an experienced and inspirational drum teacher who offers one-to-one lessons at the DS School of Music in Monmouth. Whether you want to play for fun or would like to take drum kit exams, they will tailor your lessons to suit your playing ability, interests, aims, etc.

Max is an experienced and enthusiastic drum teacher who is currently completing a Bmus performance degree at The Royal Welsh College Of Music and Drama with a partial scholarship. He has played in a variety of venues including Ronnie Scotts Soho Jazz Club, The London Jazz Festival, London’s New Years Day Parade and The Barbican, as well as being a tutor at the Original Jazz UK Summer School. Max’s modern and realistic approach to learning to play the drum kit covers a range of musical genres including rock, blues and jazz; his innovative approach uses recording equipment, advanced metronome techniques and play along tracks to make lessons fun and to help students accelerate their progress.
James Sherwood is a full-time session musician and drum teacher based in South Wales.
James has recently obtained a Bmus hons in Jazz Performance Studies from The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. He plays all styles of music from Rock&Pop to Jazz, having performed with a vast array of bands. He also has two of his own bands, which he plays regularly with.
Teaching Goals: To help people become great drummers with a solid sense of time, groove & feel with the ability to read exceptionally well, but also to be able to improvise confidently. More importantly, to achieve all of this in a fun and relaxed manner.
