Product Description by our Music Experts
Fun for Ten Fingers is a really exciting and engaging book for young beginner pianists. Packed with fun pieces, games & puzzles, it will get your children playing simple tunes with 2 hands in no time.
Really easy, fun tunes
Fun for Ten Fingers has 23 fun tunes including ‘Monster’, ‘Home on the Range’ and ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’ written for two hands in the 5 finger position (thumbs on middle C). Some songs have funny words for you to sing along, and there is even a piece called ‘Snake charmer’ where you have to read the music off the ‘wiggly snake’! Through these fun pieces new notes and sharps/flats are gradually introduced with helpful keyboard diagrams and useful suggested fingerings above the music. All pieces are written by Pauline Hall and Paul Drayton.
Introduces new musical concepts at beginner level
Each piece in Fun for Ten Fingers is named after a different type of person - for example ‘Monster, Snake charmer, Snowman’ - so you can imagine how the piece should sound, and get used to thinking about how to portray the ‘feeling’ of each piece of music. Fun for Ten Fingers also introduces improvisation by encouraging you to make up your own tunes using a set of notes and a descriptive fun title or words to go with them – for example ‘Make up your own ghost tune’ and ‘News from China’. There are optional accompaniments for your teacher to play along with you.
Fun games and quizzes
Fun for Ten Fingers is full of engaging games and puzzles, such as ‘Sweet shop’ and ‘What did the gymnast win?’ to help develop your theory and music reading skills between tunes and to make learning the piano fun! This is a delightful book for young beginner pianists, packed with lots of colourful illustrations on every page, and even teaches you a magic trick to do on the piano to WOW your friends!
