ABRSM grade 4 piano pieces

The ABRSM Grade 4 Piano 2013-14 book contains 9 selected pieces from the 2013-14 ABRSM piano grade 4 exam syllabus, covering a wide range of styles, including fun titles such as ‘Ne tirez pas sur la pianist! (Don’t shoot the pianist!)’ and pieces from famous classical composers, including Grieg and Scarlatti. There are 3 pieces from each of the lists A, B and C in the ABRSM Grade 4 Piano book - you have to choose one from each list for your grade 4 ABRSM practical exam. Most students just choose pieces from this book for their ABRSM exam, however there is also a list of alternative pieces to choose from in the front of the book. This 2013-2014 syllabus is valid from 1 January 2013 until the end of the spring 2015 exam period in the UK, and until 31 December 2015 in all other countries. Recordings of all the grade 4 pieces are available as part of the ABRSM Grade 4 Piano Book with CD or on a separate CD.

Other requirements and tips

This ABRSM Grade 4 Piano book includes brief notes on each piece and its composer and translations of non-English titles, to help you put the pieces into their musical context. It is clearly printed, and the music in the ABRSM Grade 4 Piano book is consistently marked with editor’s fingerings, dynamics, articulation, metronome marks and performance directions, and there is also a handy list of grade 4 scales and arpeggios you will need to know in the front, and the cover has a cool new design.

The sections of your exam

Your grade 4 piano exam is made up of four sections: three pieces chosen by you from this repertoire book (ABRSM Grade 4 Piano 2013-14 book), , scales and arpeggios, sight-reading, and aural tests.
