As part of your ABRSM grade 1 piano exam, you will be asked to play some piano scales from memory. • Scales (similar motion) in C, G, D & F majors and A & D minors (natural or harmonic or melodic at candidate’s choice), hands separately, L.H. may, at candidate’s choice, be played descending and ascending, 2 octaves. Natural minor scales are not in this book but are available to download from ABRSM’s website.
• Contrary-motion scale inC major, hands beginning on the key-note (in unison), 1 octave
• Broken chords in C, G and F majors, A & D minors, hands separately
• Contrary motion scale in C major, one octave
